Student Fees

EEF Interscholastic Participation Fee Assistance

TUSD high school students, who might not otherwise be able to participate in interscholastic activities, may apply for EEF Interscholastic Participation Fee Assistance which, if approved, allows the student to participate in organized, co-curricular activities such as athletics and fine arts programs.

The EEF Interscholastic Participation Fee Assistance program:

  • is open to academically eligible and financially in-need TUSD high school students. Applicants/recipients must qualify for free or reduced lunch and the TUSD school site representative must verify academic eligibility and financial need.
  • covers a portion of or the full cost of the TUSD mandated participation fee for high school students involved in TUSD organized, interscholastic activities.
  • assisted with paying 873 athletic and fine arts participation fees during the 2015-2016 school year.
  • creates opportunities for all students, regardless of economic status, to learn teamwork, discipline, public comportment and individual accomplishment through organized extra-curricular activities.
  • serves low-income youth (more than 73% of TUSD’s student body qualifies for free or reduced lunch).
  • is utilized by students enrolled at nine of TUSD’s high schools.
  • functions as an academic achievement and attendance incentive program. Only students who are academically eligible – those who regularly attend classes without excessive unexcused absences, do their school work and maintain a minimum 2.50 GPA (“C” average) – may apply for and potentially receive Interscholastic Participation Fee Assistance from EEF.
  • allows children with talents and abilities beyond the traditional classroom to excel.
  • strengthens the educational experience of school-aged children and the sense of personal pride that they feel about themselves, their school and their larger community. This helps to make these young people better citizens, learners and future participants in our state’s economy as scholars, athletes, employees, business owners, consumers, etc.

Only authorized TUSD school site representatives (e.g. Principals, Assistant Principals, Athletic Directors, Finance Managers, Activities Assistants, etc.) may submit Interscholastic Participation Fee Assistance Applications to EEF on behalf of students. EEF does not accept applications directly from students, parents or legal guardians. Incomplete and/or illegible applications will not be considered.

EEF reserves the right to request student transcripts and/or documented proof of household size and income from the parents or guardians of students who apply for EEF Interscholastic Participation Fee Assistance.

Fee assistance ranges from $35-$65 per student, per activity. Each eligible student may receive fee assistance up to two interscholastic activities per school year. Interscholastic Participation Fee Assistance Applications are accepted by EEF during the following cycles:
