25th Ray Davies Lifetime
Humanitarian Achievement Award Luncheon
We are proud to have awarded Dr. George F. Garcia, TUSD Superintendent from 1991-2000, for his distinguished career as an educational administrator. Dr. Garcia was the first Hispanic superintendent in TUSD’s 100+ year history. The underlying foundation for his 9-year tenure was promoting and advancing multicultural, non-discriminatory education. His lifetime career in education continued as he lead other major school districts across the country. His success in building consensus and establishing innovative programs resulted in wide acclaim and national recognition, such as being named one of North America's best administrators by Executive Educator magazine in 1993, and in 1998, he was selected as the Arizona Superintendent of the Year. Now retired, Dr. Garcia continues supporting education through many endowed scholarships.
